This 1974 Porsche 911 is in Aubergine (eggplant/dark purple) with tan leatherette interior. This well kept example is an excellent example of a preserved unrestored 1974 911, in a great color combo. The vehicle retains its original numbers-matching 2.7-liter engine, and 5-speed manual transaxle. The engine runs great and has received care and maintenance with an engine out major service resealed a few year ago, and a full mechanical service to the transmission. Upgraded Carrera chain tensioners were also installed. Car comes with Porsche CoA, a file of service records from the past two owner going back to 1988. We all love a well cared for and original condition car that we can drive, and this 1974 911 "Aubergine" is all that.
The excellent condition exterior still has most of it's original paint (two panels were repainted). Also excellent condition original glass, rubber seals, trim and body panels. The unique Aubergine (purple) paint color retails a great finish/shine with only light blemishes from normal road use and natural aging. The standard 15 inch Fuchs wheels are in great condition. This US market 911 is equipped with the optional fog lights. All 1974 911 came with one side mirror, and this one was delivered with the chrome finish mirror. This car is a non-sunroof car.
The interior on this car is very well preserved with light wear and aging. Carpet is in wonderful condition. Seats show some aging with wear on the drivers seat as well as a tear at the stitching seam. Clear lensed and working gauges. A great working vintage Blaupunkt radio (believed to be original to the car) with manual lift antenna. Climate control panel works, blowing fan and good heat. The dealer installed A/C system is complete and hooked up, but not charged. The A/C fan motor works, but we did not attempt to get the A/C working. Great condition headline. What is so nice with cars like this 911 is the clear fact that it wasn't messed with over the years. The interior on this 911 is very original outside the dark brown floor mats, a period correct floor mat, but not correct to this car. Most likely the mats were installed back when the car was newer. A set of Coco Mats would look great in this car.
Mechanically this 911 is great. Being the base model 911 in 1974, the 2.7L flat six developed 143 HP. The engine in this car is stock, and runs great with good fun performance. Over the years, the engine has received steady maintenance. A few short years ago the engine received a major engine out service with most of the aged seals replace during the service. Today, the engine is very dry for a 2.7L with only light weeping. The 5-speed manual was professional gone through and serviced, and a new clutch was install during this service. Shifts smooth through all gears. The car is regularly driven.
This car is one of our favorites. In our opinion, it doesn't get much better. Great color and fun to drive. Porsche cars like this are not as common as one might think. This is a beautiful car that deserves an owner that appreciates it's originality and condition.
