What We Saw at Amelia Island

The Amelia Island car week is a great collection of cars, people, events, gatherings, show and premier collector car auction. It's easy to say Amelia Island is a must see or a bucket list event to attend.

Some of the highlights of the week.

The Collector car auctions are always interesting and sometimes very exciting. We always enjoy viewing and sometimes bidding on the cars we love. This year, we had the pleasure viewing and watching part of Jerry Seinfeld's collection of Porsches and VWs. A collection of very rare and valuable Porsche race car to the lowly VW Beetle (which sold for $120,000). At one of the auction houses we took and sold three of our vehicles, which was fun and exciting.

There are so many events and gatherings going on throughout the week, and it's hard to say which one is better than the other. One event that we feel is a must attend is the Amelia Cars & Coffee on Saturday morning. A more casual car show gathering than the Concours, yet the cars and people are just as cool. This year about 400 cars were on the greens for the C&C gathering.

Another event that was big fun to attend was the BMW legendary drivers seminar. This was a time to see the legends discuss racing for BMW in the early years as well as more recent years.

The big show.  The reason so many travel to Amelia Island for this one week in March is the Concours of D'Elegance. I would describe it like this; the best of the best, the rarest of the rare, and the crowdest of crowds. Many attended the event, this year. The cars are amazing and beautiful, and if look around the crowds you may just see a well known face.
