Vintage Daytona Footage only an IMSA Enthusiast Could Love
The 24 Hours of Daytona came to a close yesterday (Congrats, ESM).
In honor, we went looking for some vintage film and found some gold.
In 1977, a team from Illinois competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona. Someone on the team brought a camera with them. The result is a soup of footage that could only have come from that glorious decade of racing.
Points of interest:
- Paul Newman, Vic Elford, Hurley Haywood, and Sam Posey
- The sparse paddocks
- Vintage porsche
- "GT stands for great truck" and "I stole this from the last crew..."
- Super cool McLaren Martini BMW 320i - First time out on the track.
