Recreation of 1930's New York

Alexy Zakharov is a digital artist based in Russia. His last project that made waves online was his 3D rendering of Futurama's intro animation.

His latest project, The Old New World turns 1930's photographs of New York into 3D worlds. A ton of work went into each one of these, and it shows. The Old New World is a wonderful look at the way the world used to be and the people in it.

Sometimes, I find it hard to comprehend that people of history (in this case, 86 years ago) were just as capable as we are today and with less technology. When that understanding clicks, it's an amazing feeling. Zakharov's project made that click for me.
