This 1981 Porsche 911SC Targa is finished in Black Metallic (Schwarzmetallic) over black leather. Stock 3.0L engine and 5 speed transmission. Equipped with power windows, cruise control, a/c, fog lights, aftermarket stereo, and standard 6 & 7 x 16″ Fuchs wheels.
It’s no secret that we love classic Porsches because they can be driven and driven and driven. Even with 200,000 miles or a lot more miles, they are still a great car to drive anywhere, park anywhere, and use whenever you want. That is the Porsche appeal.
EXTERIOR
The Black Metallic / Schwarzmetallic is in good condition with a nice shine, smooth finish. A unique color that appears black in low light, yet has a dark metallic steel gray appearance in the sunlight. Overall the exterior is average with some paint chips, and other blemishes expected of a driven car. The targa top shows it’s age, but in usable condition. Rubber trim pieces are in good condition. Michelin tires with good tread depth are mounted on original Fuchs wheels. The right front has some minor scuffing (see photos).
INTERIOR
The black interior is clean and nice. The steering wheel and power controlled leather front seats are updated items from a later 3.2 Carrera model and in very nice condition. All gauges work, yet I’m sure someone will notice the 930 turbo gauges which have been installed have a turbo boost gauge. The speedometer was also updated to feature a 150mph speedometer, instead of the 85 mph (US required speedometer of the early 1980’s.
MECHANICALS
This 911 runs well, shifts well and drives nice. Power comes from Porsche’s 3.0-liter M930/16 flat-six with CIS fuel-injection, which Porsche rated at 180 hp when new. The type 915 five-speed manual transaxle in this car shifts well at operating temperature. Recent service includes, oil service, new battery, alternator, and brake fluid change.
OTHER NOTES
The car has a spare and most of the tools, but no tool holder roll (tools are in a bag). This 911SC comes with a car cover, owners manual, a number of service records, and some other small items such as the service tech book.
CarFax. Attached is a link to the CarFax history. All I can say is the PA notes that the car odometer reading “EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS TITLE ISSUED”. Silly government stuff. Clearly the individuals that noted this doesn’t know that there is “NO LIMIT” to the miles a Porsche can travel. : )
