Luftgekühlt, Last Sunday
Howie Idelson and Patrick Long's Porsche Luftgekühlt took place last Sunday. Modernica furniture hosted the third annual event, which has played host to the biggest names in air-cooled Porsche culture. Luftgekühlt blends California cool with a down-to-earth vibe that marks the best of Porsche gatherings.
Luftgekühlt 3 featured an auction of Luft Auto's Rally 911 and a customized set of chairs by Modernica and Carby Tuckwell of Deus Ex Machina. The 911 went for $275k, proceeds going to Autumn Leaves, Butch Walker's pancreatic cancer charity.
And, as always, out came some of the coolest Porsches. The organizer's favorites included, "Jerry Seinfeld and his 904 Carrera GTS, an ultra-rare 356 Carrera GTL Abarth, Bruce Canepa’s 959 and homologation 934 from the Matsuda collection, Jeff Zwart's 1948 356 Gmünd Coupe, Jim Edwards’ Interscope RSR, Don Murray’s Lufthansa-liveried 914-6, Tim Pappas’ magenta 1975 911 Carrera built by Gunnar Racing and Wayne Dempsey's 356 Speedster."
In only its third year, Luftgekühlt continues to prove itself as one of the most influential Porsche gatherings in the US.
