Straton Watch Co.
If you haven't noticed the 70's auto-related theme in watches, now is the time to get on board. No doubt, the beautiful watches from Autodromo opened many eyes to design possibilities.
The latest fully funded watch project from Kickstarter has discovered a broader niche in the watch/automotive crossover. Porsche blog FlatSixes.com noted the 911 design cues, such as the optional black & orange color palette on the face and optional Fuchs backing.
We think buyers will appreciate the metal band option, though leather looks the best. Nothing else communicates the raw, vintage feel that is so hot in the market right now. One could argue the metal bands feel more like modern Porsche and its hyper-clean image.
It's also interesting to note just how many projects get off the ground via Kickstarter. I doubt such a niche watch would be able to have made it before the internet and crowd-sourcing. In the end, it's the buyers winning.
Take a look for yourself. Are these new watches cool? Derivative? Worth the money?
